A television drama/sci-fi/action based show on fringe science and how it is effecting the main characters world. It centers around FBI Agent Olivia Dunham, Dr. Walter Bishop and Peter Bishop. Together they make up a rather interesting, complex and mind provoking mythology-based show, that is unique in its storytelling along with being daring with the choices the writers have these characters that you deeply care for make.
Fringe is on Fridays at 9/8c on Fox!
9/8c (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)
Fringe is one of those shows that is very hard to describe without giving too much away. And trust me when I tell you, you do not want spoilers! So I will try to do my best and sell you on what I believe to be the ONLY show of its kind on TV today.
Let's go to the beginning. Fringe is now in it's 3rd season and well into its mythos. (Mythos meanings its story arch/plot) So if you are anti-spoiler or like stories to be unveiled while you watch and you are new to this show I strongly urge you to buy, rent, stream or how ever you view your shows to catch up before jumping on board. But if you really don't care and just want to jump on board then tune in on Fridays 9/8c and start getting captured.
Fringe starts off with a bang! Or really rather a slimy-disgusting-melting-horrific-we-are-all-going-to-die....start. But never fear! Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) is here to save the day. Well, at first she just gets jerked around a lot by Agent in charge Broyles (Lance Reddick). Wanting to be on the case and prove herself, Dunham takes an extreme move and enlists a brilliant but rather slightly insane scientist, Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble). Unfortunately Walter is a handful and speaks...well "Walter" and his son Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson)is asked to stay on board to help keep Walter focused on the task at hand. As this make-shift team comes together we dive deeper into what is far more than just one fucked up airplane ride.
A lot of shows out there tend to focus more on one aspect or another. Either the story/theme is well developed and the characters stay 2 dimensional, or visa versa. Though Fringe has gone above and beyond in creating not only a thick and rich story that unfolds rather quickly in just its past few seasons, but also deeply moving and damaged characters, that form a strong and intense bond. The writing and acting behind this amazing show is truly refreshing. Seeds that were planted in the first season, let alone the pilot have later shown its full bloom in a shocking and mind-bending style. I never have felt so committed to characters like this for a TV show. I find myself constantly in bated breath during brilliantly delivered scenes. The raw energy that is released from John Noble's acting is mesmerizing. His burst of moods effect not only you but how you view the show. Noble's takes you in and you can fully understand why Walter does what only his mind can comprehend. As frightening as it can be. Anna Torv is a rare actress. Even more so by the character she plays. Olivia is a very stoic and cut off women. She keeps herself in check, and is business first. Torv plays a character that is mostly seen played by men. So it is easy to think she isn't doing much of any acting at all. But this is were her rarity comes into play. Olivia's characters emotions are not played out in her body language like most if not all female characters. But rather in her eyes. It blows my mind and gives me chills when you can understand everything Olivia is feeling or thinking simply by what her eyes are telling you.
Fringe has so much to offer, and is a show that leaves you wanting to theorize and discuss what you just saw in those "WTF?" moments. I wish I could go further in depth with this one, but I truly believe this is a show that needs to been seen from the beginning for one to really become apart of this world. Sure you can tune in and easily understand what's going on. It's not another 'Lost' or 'Alias' where in the end you think: "What was that really all about?" But if you do, I must again insist that you also catch up on the episodes you missed.
So don't miss out on a rare and amazing show! Tune in and get lost (but not confused) in the pattern!
